Fortnite on Switch 2 Offers Performance Comparable to Xbox Series S
During the recent Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Fortnite will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. Reports indicate that the game’s performance on the Switch 2 is comparable to that on the Xbox Series S, suggesting significant hardware improvements in Nintendo’s new console. The Switch 2 utilizes a custom NVIDIA processor, offers up to 256 GB of internal storage, and supports video output up to 4K at 60 FPS.
This marks a major leap forward from the original Switch, where Fortnite ran at a lower resolution with frequent frame rate dips. On the Switch 2, Epic Games has confirmed that the game will run at a stable 60 frames per second in both handheld and docked mode. Additionally, visual settings such as shadows, textures, and draw distance will see noticeable enhancements.
Nintendo has also revealed that the Switch 2 will feature an improved Wi-Fi chipset for faster online play and lower latency. Combined with the new Joy-Con 2 controllers, which have reduced input lag, competitive gaming on the Switch 2 is expected to be much smoother than before.
Cross-play with PlayStation, Xbox, and PC will continue, and the game will support cloud saves and cross-progression, allowing players to switch between platforms without losing progress.
